is a project based within Rural Community Action Nottinghamshire and offers services across the county of Nottinghamshire. We work with all young people aged 13 to 19 and use angling as the vehicle to achieve a range of positive outcomes......

The project has its origins in Newstead Village, Nottinghamshire. In 2001, local community development worker Mick Leivers began working with a group of young people who were fishing illegally on a local park lake and struck a deal with them.

In return for access to good equipment and expert tuition the young people agreed to stop poaching and participate in some environmental work to improve their community. The success of this piece of work prompted Mick to explore the possibility of a full time angling project. Since then the project has expanded rapidly, building on the lessons learnt in the early stages.
